Keeping Your Focus: Techniques and Principles to Adopt
by ago0
Focus is a skill that people have to learn to avoid getting sidetracked by other things. It is a mental skill that keeps you glued to one thing and one thing only until you finish it.
Having a strong focus can help in many life aspects, including working and doing household chores in your new flat at One Chuan Grove. Here are some techniques that can help.
Pomodoro Technique
The Pomodoro Technique is a method for time management that sets aside about 25 minutes where you do nothing but the task at hand. After the 25 minutes have passed, you give yourself a 5-minute break and repeat; after a couple of cycles have passed, you can extend your break. This method was invented by Francisco Cirillo.
Pareto Principle
More commonly known as the 80/20 rule, the Pareto Principle states that 80% of your results come from about 20% of the efforts you have made. It helps you identify tasks that may have more value compared to others, allowing you to prioritize them and put more energy into those high-value assignments and tasks. This also helps with single-tasking.
Eat The Frog
Eat The Frog is a method where you deal with the task you dread most or what looks to be the hardest for you. You will only be doing this and this task only with no other tabs open, no checking messages or emails first thing when you wake up, so that you are refreshed and are at the peak of your energy. This removes a significant load from your work, allowing you some time to rest.
Eisenhower Matrix
The Eisenhower Matrix is a tool for both decision-making and time management where you divide your tasks depending on 4 things. The first thing is importance and urgency, or what to do first. Second is important but not urgent; think long-term tasks or projects. The third sector is to delegate, since these tasks are still important but can be passed to another person. Lastly, delete or don’t do these tasks that are not urgent or important.
